MISSION
MoMo Mixed Ability Dance Theatre brings together a diverse community of artists, whose purpose it is to remove barriers and facilitate artistic expression and the joy of movement-based improvisation, both in community settings and in performance.
MANDATE
MoMo brings together professional artists and prospective artists, with and without disability or ability, to explore movement, voice, instrument, theatre, dance, visual art and improvisational disciplines.
Artists of all abilities and skills, professional or not, are supported and challenged in the practice, creation and performance of distinctive of works of dance theatre that reflect our unique community and its individuals.
ACTIVITIES
We run weekly community and ensemble classes at both the beginner’s and more experienced levels. We create improvisational, multi-disciplinary performance works for presentation through out the Calgary theatre season.
About Us
MoMo Dance Theatre is English Canada's first fully integrated dance theatre company. Our workshops and performance opportunities are open to participants of all abilities, including; physical,
sensory, neurological, developmental and cross diagnosis disabilities, their support, friends and family.
Our work is improvisation based, developing scores, within which each improvisation finds its inherent form. This is the point of access, allowing the artists to explore and express shared ideas and intentions within each artist's personal range, removing the boundaries of ability by working with them to create freedom, equality, and unique, diverse performance.
MoMo is a federally registered charitable organization. To donate to MoMo (tax receipts included), please contact info@momodancetheatre.org
"One of the most exciting things about mixed ability dance theatre is that the field has no traditions: it is completely open to explore."
