  • MoMo was founded in 2003 and registered as a non profit charity in 2007.
  • We are the only integrated dance theatre organization in southern Alberta offering performance, performance training and recreational classes for and with people of all abilities.
  • We consider public performance a tool for social change and the artistic enrichment of Canadian culture as a whole.
  • The MoMo Performance Ensemble performs publicly up to 15 times per year.
  • In 10 years we have performed in 16 different venues including Olympic Plaza, on C train platforms, Eau Claire Market (inside & out), in the Devonian Gardens, in the + 15 and for 6 full productions, in The Vertigo Studio Theatre.
  • Over 500 members of the public see us perform every year.
  • The 12 member performance ensemble train on an ongoing basis
  • 6 – 8 contracted professional artists teach and create work with the ensemble per season.
  • 5 recreational classes are running each week in 4 different city locations.
  • Up to 75 students are in classes at any one time with a 90% return rate.
  • 10 Calgary organizations collaborate with MoMo, including The High Performance Rodeo, Springboard Performance Theatre, Calgary SCOPE Society and The Fanning Centre.
  • We have a further 15 potential local collaborators.
  • We have taken national and provincial leadership initiative in developing the form and creating collaborative relationship with artists from Montreal , Ottawa, Vancouver and Edmonton by: – funding and running workshops with international teachers – funding and running the first conference for Canadian leaders of integrated performance companies – mounting collaborative productions with companies from Ottawa, Vancouver & Edmonton.

  • Over 400 individuals and organizations are on our mailing list
  • We receive operating funding from provincial and municipal levels of government
  • We have received project funding from; Calgary Learns, The Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Calgary Arts Development, The Calgary Foundation and The Canada Council for the Arts.
  • We have had a total of 12 articles written about us in The Calgary Herald, Neighbours and Fast Forward
